Europe's educational systems are witnessing a dynamic infusion of Information Technology into the training classrooms. Different and wide ranging thinking skills need to be cultivated and emphasis should be placed on the social interactions that are enabled by the new technologies. The young generations, under the pressure of peer groups, are taking up eagerly and with confidence the most advanced technologies as soon as technology vendors make them available. In contrast, curricula & learning objectives still focus on very basic (in fact, primitive) computer skills and teachers themselves are slow adopters of the new ICTs. The educational system has to offer sufficient recourses for preparing and supporting the creative and knowledge society of tomorrow. ICT educational curricula should extend instruction beyond basic computer skills development. ICT educators must be prepared to teach for meaning, extent students thinking skills thus enable them to become creators of information and ideas and not simply users of technology.
